The discovery of cells in the mid 1600’s began the quest to heal at the cellular level. Now, in the 21st century, regenerative medicine is finally at our fingertips, but what is it and how does it work?
Regenerative medicine encourages all-natural healing by providing damaged cells with the tools and information necessary to heal themselves. In other words, it allows your cells to begin the healing process at the root of the problem or injury. This creates a more long-term and effective solution than topical anesthetics or oral pain medication.
Regenerative medicine should only be practiced by trained professionals. Most clinics offering these services are led by a doctor specializing in the field of cellular therapy. Here at KB Chiropractic, our own Dr. Dmitriy Fuzaylov is a leader in his field.
Here, you’ll learn more about the process behind regenerative medicine, what it’s used for, and the different forms it takes.
Different Types of Regenerative Medicine
Just as your body is made up of many different cells, there are different types of regenerative medicine. Depending on your doctor, their experience, your injury or illness, and finances, the regenerative therapy you choose will change. At KB Chiropractic we specialize in cellular therapy and platelet-rich plasma therapy.PRP
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma therapy, is a type of regenerative medicine that uses the cells in your own blood to increase healing. A blood sample is taken and spun in a centrifuge to separate plasma from platelets. The platelet-rich sample is then injected into the damaged tissue to encourage cellular repair and natural healing from within.
Because the blood used in this therapy is your own, there is very little chance of rejection. PRP has a high success rate and minimal risk of side effects other than tenderness in the injection site.
PRP is used to relieve pain from a wide range of issues that include sprains, strains, fractures, torn ligaments, sciatica, tendon issues, fibromyalgia and more.Cellular Therapy
Another natural therapy is cell therapy. This uses Wharton’s jelly-derived mesenchymal cells taken from donated umbilical tissue. The tissue is taken following a caesarian birth with no harm to the mother or child. Only the healthiest specimens are collected. The young cells in the jelly provide all the necessary components for cell regeneration.
Cell therapy is used for sports injuries, damaged joints, inflammation, pain, degenerative conditions and a variety of other ailments.
Both regenerative cellular therapy and PRP are effective at treating:
- Knee pain
- Hip pain
- Neck pain
- Back pain
- Shoulder pain
- Wrist pain
- Ankle pain
- Elbow pain
- And more
